Mapping with Drones Course

Location: Mayo

Organized by: Yukon Seed and Restoration

Drones have become a staple tool within the environmental science sector. Having the skills to translate the data you collect with your drone into mapping products that you can use for land planning is critical to conducting work in a good way.

Yukon Seed and Restoration is excited to offer a new addition to our community course offerings. Presented with support from the Indigenous Forest Initiative, this Mapping with Drones Training course is designed to foster a new generation of Indigenous drone operators and mappers. Part of YSR’s mission is to increase the presence of Indigenous people and voices within the environmental sciences sector, and drone operation is another aspect of where career opportunities exist. Knowledge of drones will be useful but not necessary for this course. This course does not provide certification or licensing in drone operation.

This May 28-31st course will be taking place in Mayo, Yukon. Participants will be provided with meals and accommodations, as well as all field safety equipment (please bring your own sturdy boots). Participants must be 18 years or older to attend. Transportation to site will be covered, but participants are responsible for their own transportation to Mayo.
