What’s Ihdzí’ all about?

Ihdzí’ is a Northern Tutchone word meaning “my heart.”

Ihdzí’ is a Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation-owned business operating on the traditional territory of the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation.

What began as a shared vision between the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation and Yukon University’s Mayo Campus - a welcoming space to gather, connect, and share stories over good food - has grown into a practical, community-driven hub.

Today, Ihdzí’ offers services that support economic development, build local capacity, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of both Na-Cho Nyäk Dun citizens and the Stewart valley region.

Together with the community Ihdzí’ serves, we are building a space that fosters growth, gathering, and belonging. Our goals are ambitious: to help fill important service and amenity gaps while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone. Our priority areas include offering food for purchase, delivering diverse and meaningful programming, maintaining consistent and reliable hours of operation, and providing a flexible space for events, gatherings, and everything in between.

As the active business arm of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation (NNDDC) is dedicated to fostering the wellbeing of our people, lands, and waters. We look at the idea of wealth through the lens of Dooli Law, and know that making good money by doing good things means reinvesting those profits back into community in a good way. Ihdzí’ is the product of this approach to community development. Through a variety of ongoing support from funders, partners, and profits from our strategic investments, we’ve been able to breathe life into this space, and address a number of service gaps in our community. Our team couldn’t be more proud of this space and what it means for long-term sustainable resources for our Northern Tutchone community.
