MMIWG2S+ Art Contest
The Na Cho Nyak Dun First Nation Wellness & Social Department is seeking artist submissions for an awareness campaign focused on ending violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people (MMIWG2S+). While the 'Red Dress' has become a symbol of this movement, we recognize the need for broader representation to honor all those affected by this crisis.
Theme: "Resilience and Healing" – This theme invites artists to focus on the strength and recovery of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, highlighting their resilience and journey towards healing.
We invite NND artists to submit impactful artwork that uplifts the stories of our missing and murdered Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ relatives. This art contest aims to showcase the unique identities, challenges, and resilience of these individuals through diverse visual mediums. The winning pieces will be featured in future projects to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of the vital roles and presence of Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ people within our communities.
Submission Dates: October 1st - 31st 2024
Eligibility: Must be a Na Cho Nyak Dun citizen. Artists of any age group are welcome to participate.
